Masyn Chalfant of Tri heads into his senior season as one of the states top running backs, and the hardnosed back has garnered plenty of recruiting activity over the past few months and remains on the lookout for a college landing spot "I’m still keeping my options open going into the season. I’m talking with a lot of schools right now and I’m excited to earn more opportunities," Masyn told HPG. "Preparation for the 2026 season has been on another level. I’ve trained harder than I ever have before and it’s already showing up on the field this summer." The 6-0, 215LB Chalfant rushed for 1145 yards and 15 TDs last fall for the Titans and has rolled up 2673 career yards and 40TDs. Tri will be a preseason favorite in the Tri Eastern Conference, and the Titans look to make a post-season run in Class 1A in November.

The Wheeler Bearcats are getting a fresh start this year under new HC Josh Wissing, who comes over after serving as OC at Merrillville. All eyes will be on 6-5, 220LB Bearcat TE Conner Welch, who has committed to Ball State. Welch is the most highly recruited player in Wheeler history. "I think as a team we have gotten a good preparation for the upcoming season especially considering everything we're doing is new to everyone with the new coaching we've gotten this off-season," Welch told HPG. "We played good competition in summer scrimmages and definitely have gotten a feel for how things should run to be successful." Used mostly as a blocking TE previously, Conner has 38 career receptions for 549 yards and 7 TDs. Wissing will certainly be looking to get the football into the hands of his big TE more often this fall.

Aiden Robinson has already smashed all the career passing records at Maconaquah, so the talented in coming senior QB is looking to take his team to a conference title in the TRC and a long run into the Indiana post season playoffs. "Summer preparations have been great so far," Robinson told HPG. "Building with a new coach has been an excitement. Learning different ideas and how to execute them. Summer has been great we had a couple really good scrimmages, and I think we have a chance to play a lot of games this season. This WR group has now had the same offense for the past 3 years and it’s looking really good. I personally think this is one of the best offensive lines to ever come through Maconaquah and it’s awesome to be personally behind them. I can’t wait for this season to start so we can show what summer has done for us." Austin Phillips had a sensational freshman football season last fall for East Noble, and the 6-3, 215LB in coming sophomore parlayed that into a huge offseason of camp and recruiting activity that yielded multiple high level D1 offers. Q&A with east Noble RB/LB Austin Phillips What was the key to all the success you experienced during your freshman season? 1. Some of the keys to success last year were having a very experienced o-line, great upper-class leadership, everyone having the same goals and mindset, and having extreme focus on weight lifting & skill training. I made sure I would never be outworked. What was the primary focus of your offseason workouts and training? 2. Primary focus was getting better at shedding blocks. I learned a lot at the different camps I attended in June. Also, worked on my coverage skills so I’m able to match up with different skill players. What were the high points of your offseason recruiting experience 3. High Points were getting offered by Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan State, Purdue and Tennessee. Describe your playing style 2. Aggressive, but there also comes a point in the game where you have to play conservative and I have that ability as well. Toughest player you have faced 3. Probably Ty Benton, he runs the ball very aggressive and angry. Toughest road stadium 4. I think at Roncalli my sophomore year, they have a really good fan base and they just get into the game. Favorite part of practice 5. Just getting to be around my teammates and brothers, have fun, and get better everyday. Favorite team to play against 6. Definitely Terre Haute South, a really big rival for us and I know me and my guys are looking forward to that game this year. 2026 personal goal 7. Undefeated in the regular season.
