YEP, or just self-employed, entrepreneur, small biz owner, working for a co. with fewer than 50 employees, hired "part-time" (exactly 35 hours/week), etc.
(And, Medicare has been eroded by the for-profit vultures and complicated by mind-bogging rules and regulation.)
There is something so unbelievably bleak about an article that calmly walks readers through how to navigate being laid off after 50, losing your health insurance, and somehow surviving the years until Medicare. What a broken country.

I started watching TOS as a young kid on a b&w Zenith TV with fiddly rabbit ears, my face just inches from the little screen.
The show still stands tall as a beacon of hope, tolerance, and understanding.

Mitch McConnell being unable to speak and unaware of where he is, or what he is doing on the Senate floor, would normally raise some alarm bells.
Republicans are seen guiding him how to "vote" - none of them elected by Kentuckians.
But in the five alarm fire of the Trump era, an incapacitated Senator on the floor is nothing.

Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.
The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.

3 year old boy separated from his 4 siblings—after ICE already deported both his parents.
All 5 kids are U.S. citizens.
"They took us from our parents," sister said
"Now taking us from our brother."
Eldest daughter—18 year old student—must now take care of remaining siblings who were not sent back to Guatemala.
They are ages 16, 14, and 11.
Their parents, Maria Leiva Perez and Abraham Domingo, were deported back in August after a traffic stop.
Video of their arrest went viral at the time.
They lived for almost 20 years in Palm Beach County, Florida.

I don't know what a "fearmongel" is but what we're throwing out there are FACTS.
Like: two U.S. citizens in Minnesota murdered in cold blood by ICE agents.
Both deaths captured on multiple videos.
Both investigations obstructed.
No justice served. That's as bad as it gets.
