What is USDT0? 🐝 USDT0 is the same USDT dollar stablecoin from Tether, but built to move easily between different blockchains. ❌ The problem Regular USDT is issued separately on each chain: Ethereum, Tron and so on. On newer L2s where Tether doesn't issue USDT, people used "bridged" versions. A bridge locks the real USDT and gives you a wrapped IOU on the other chain. That creates a mess: • one chain can have several different "USDT"s from different bridges, and they're not interchangeable • liquidity gets split between them • if the bridge gets hacked, the wrapped tokens can lose their value ✅ What USDT0 does It uses LayerZero's OFT standard: burn and mint. When you send USDT0 from one chain to another, it's burned on the first chain and minted fresh on the second. No wrappers. I have a feeling onchain RFQ is about to enter its pioneering stage There is a clear advantage over CLOB dexs when it comes to breadth of asset listings, you can't rest quotes in 800 illiquid tickers, no MM is going to do that, and an empty book is worse for a venue than not listing at all imo So dealer models are great for making the market exist and tradeable, but comes with plenty of trade offs (e.g. you’re getting cooked on the spread without evening knowing it) But thankfully this is only step one
