Ok, I need to jump in and clarify a few things:
Firstly: Unfortunately Remy misspoke in his video, I was not told I was blacklisted from the Campaign Evolved Sentinels because I was too honest during Halo Infinite testing, but rather I was told I wasn't invited to the Forerunners for Halo Infinite because I would be too honest about the game or something along those lines.
Basically, my inference is that they knew my feedback would be critical about it so I wasn't invited. That's both my inference, and also what I've been told from sources that I know for a fact are 99.9% accurate.
Now, I don't want people to infer from this that the Forerunners were just one big group of yes men who didn't push back on anything. Again, I know for a fact that is not the case, at least with some people in that group who I know.
Please don't use this information as a tool to further beat those people with. Everyone I know in that group put in an excessive amount of work to steer the ship that was Halo Infinite through disaster after disaster, and the way many of them have been mislabelled in the years since is, honestly, frustrating as fuck. They don't deserve it.
I will say, even though I've never been told this, I do presume that I wasn't invited to the Sentinels to give early feedback on Campaign Evolved for much the same reason, but that's just speculation and that's not what this post is about.
Secondly: I've never been explicitly aware of any "blacklist", so to speak, but of course Rebs' recent report implies one did exist.
However, I was always quite confused as to the inner workings of all this, because it was abundantly clear the studio didn't want to work with me on giving early feedback on games, however they were always extremely enthusiastic to work with me in other endeavours.
I've said this a lot over the years, but the HCS team are a great example. They were always super down to get me involved with things at events, be it stage work, panels or even more recently judging the $10,000 short film contest at Halo Fest.
I have several instances of the HCS team not just wanting to work with me, but going above and beyond to accommodate me in ways they had no obligation to. I won't name names, but there are several people on that team who I have infinite admiration for because of this.
Then, there's the narrative team, who especially in recent times have also been extremely eager to work with me.
This year alone, they cast me in the Waypoint Chronicles audiobook, then cast me again in Still Midnight, and even went as far as writing an entirely additional scene for my character because they loved the lines we sent over, and wanted a flashback prologue scene to open episode 3.
Again, the same applies here - everyone I worked with on the narrative team was great, and I don't have a single bad thing to say about any of them.
That's pretty much all I have to say on this, just wanted to clarify a few things and (finally, I've been waiting to do this for years), touch on the confusing dissonance I experienced being excluded from certain things, but enthusiastically involved in others, but it is what it is, we're about to entire an entirely different era for Halo so all this stuff is kinda redundant now.
Activision are likely going to operate very differently in this regard to how 343/Halo Studios ever did, and we're just gonna have to wait and see how things go.
