🇺🇸✈️ From London to New York - and now, the journey home. What a week for eight of our LEO Year 6 pupils. They’ve explored NYC, experienced Broadway, art, history & culture, visited Google NYC, shared their ideas for the future of Google Classroom, engaged with global conversations around AI & inclusion and experienced school life at Frank R. Conwell Middle School in New Jersey. But the biggest learning has gone beyond the itinerary. They’ve learned to ask questions, listen to different perspectives, communicate across cultures, build new relationships and have confidence in their own ideas. And they’ve left something behind too: their curiosity, creativity, voices and ideas - showing that primary-aged children from South West London & Surrey have a place in global conversations about the future. They’ll return to their schools across @LEOacademies with new friendships, bigger ambitions, greater confidence and a much wider view of the world. Our Year 6 pupils had the brilliant opportunity to pitch their ideas for new Google Classroom features directly to the @GoogleForEdu team - moving from being users of technology to imagining and designing what could come next. 💡 💻 Our staff also went behind the scenes with the Product UX team to hear about the future of Google Classroom and the thinking behind the tools used every day by millions of teachers and learners. A fantastic reflection of our long-term partnership with @GoogleUK and our shared belief in giving children greater agency in shaping the future of learning. Conwell Middle School #4 in Jersey City - experiencing school life, meeting pupils & staff and sharing ideas across the Atlantic. What struck us was how much we have in common: a belief in pupil voice, interactive learning, problem-solving, technology and giving young people the confidence to take risks, explore and shape their own learning. A huge thank you to Principal Richard Stellato and the whole Conwell community for such a warm welcome. We’re excited about where this partnership can take us in the years ahead. And a special thank you to Grace Kelly & @GoogleForEdu for connecting LEO and Conwell in the first place.
