Tommy Miller served his country, his community, and his union with pride. He understood what this job asks of us and our families – and over nearly 50 years of service, he never forgot it.

A second-generation fire fighter, Navy veteran, and lifelong union leader, Tommy served 37 years with the Indianapolis Fire Department.

Thousands and thousands of people are alive today because of their heroic rescue efforts.
Twenty-five years later, we #NeverForget.
Today, we honor the 343 FDNY members and one New York City fire patrolman killed on Sept. 11, 2001, the thousands of others who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks, and all those who have died since from WTC-related illnesses.

Three wildland fire fighters died yesterday battling the Snyder Fire in Colorado.
They were doing the dangerous work fire fighters do: protecting communities in unforgiving conditions.

Please join me in saying a prayer tonight for the family and friends of Isai Huerta of Local 1665. Isai, who served with Odessa Fire for 9 years, made the ultimate sacrifice yesterday.
Two other FFs were injured in the incident. They are also in my thoughts as they recover.
This is an incredibly difficult time for the Huerta family, Odessa Fire Rescue, the City of Odessa family, and the entire Odessa community and beyond.
