In a Nabataean tomb at Hegra, AlUla, perforated dates strung on palm frond fibers were found wrapped in ancient burial fabrics. Researchers believe they are remnants of a date-fruit necklace symbolizing abundance and security, revealing an unusual aspect of the palm's role in funerary practices some 2,000 years ago.

“Biggest joy of the book is Bishara’s narrative style..He convincingly shows that the history of the Middle East is incomplete if not viewed as integral to the histories of South Asia & East Africa.” Seema Alavi rev of “Monsoon Voyagers” in Law&History Rev cup.org/4jmVLOt

#New on #OCIANA - a beautiful drawing of a female figure with her arms drawing out her hair. Her belly is marked with an X. The inscription is dated to: snt ʿly h-mlk h{r}n 'the year the king went up to Hrn'. Could this be hārūn?
