Indian Muslims contribute significantly to the aviation sector and government revenues through Hajj travel every year. Around 175,000 Indian pilgrims are expected to perform Hajj this year, and with average airfare costs often nearing ₹1 lakh per pilgrim, the total airfare revenue alone can cross ₹17.5 billion. A substantial part of this amount also goes toward taxes and related government charges.
