Śubh Vijayādaśmī Vijayādaṣmī or Dussehra* is the auspicious day after nine days of Śarad Navrātri. During NAVRĀTRĪ, *Goddess Durgā* is invoked first to remove impurities from the mind, then *Goddess Lakṣmi* is invoked to cultivate the noble values and finally, *Goddess Sarasvati* is invoked for gaining the highest knowledge of the Self. When all three are gained, subjectively, then there will be Vijayādaśmī, the day of true Victory. *Vijayā* means ‘victory’, the victory over our own minds that can come when we have worshipped these three Goddess. This festival celebrates the victory of good over evil by burning the effigy of *Rāvaṇa.* *Rāvaṇa* signifies the ego, once we have purified the mind, inculcated the positive qualities, and gained the supreme self-knowledge, ego (Ahaṅkāra) is destroyed. “ _*Rāvaṇa Dahan*_ is a ritual of burning effigies of demon king Rāvaṇa, which signifies the burning of our extroverted desires and turning inwards to the Self”, Swami Tejomayānanda, Chinmaya Mission. *Vijayādaṣmī* is celebrated in different ways in different parts of Bhārat, but worshipping feminine divinity is at the center of festive celebration. Bhagwān Rāma killed Demon King Rāvaṇa and got victory on this day. Rāvaṇa had kidnapped Goddess Sitā and fled to Lankā. Have an Ego! Hanumān had the ego that he was the servant of Bhagwān; he attained eternal glory. Rāvaṇa had the ego that he was superior to everyone; he was obliterated. #vijayadashami #Hindutva #goodoverevil

BBC double standard (again) w example. When Indian youth protest, the BBC glorifies them, framing it as a valid crusade against Modi. Yet, when French students protest, the BBC supports France's government theory that protestors are manipulated. Two protests, two different headlines. Why? #defunctBBC #biasedmedia

A Hindu community celebration of Dussehra and Bathukamma at Ossett Town Hall on the evening of Saturday 17 October 2026 was disrupted by groups of youths who intimidated organisers, allegedly assaulted two attendees and tried to gather at the entrance, according to a formal statement from the event’s organisers. Families from the Hindu community had gathered at the hall in Ossett, in the Wakefield district, to mark two of the autumn festivals, with children and young people among those inside. Organisers say the celebration was proceeding as planned until, during the evening, those stepping outside began to encounter groups behaving in a threatening and confrontational way. Two attendees were allegedly struck as they went to collect their car. Both are reported to have been left bleeding and on the ground. West Yorkshire Police attended the venue later that night and took statements, according to the organisers. @WakefieldPolice @WestYorksPolice

Śubh Navrātri, Śubh Ṣaptam ī Day 7 – Mā Kālarātri Mā Durgā takes the 7th form as Mā Kālarātri, one of the fiercest forms of Durgā and her appearance evokes fear. ‘Kāla’ means ‘death & time’, and ‘Rātri’ means ‘night’. This form is believed to be the destroyer of all demonic qualities and negative energies, who flee upon knowing of her arrival. She killed the demons Śumbha & Niśumbha. Spiritually, after worshipping three aspects of Mā Durgā on the first three days to remove impurities from the mind, Mā Lakṣmi is worshipped on the next three days, to cultivate the noble values making the mind ready to absorb the supreme knowledge which is done by worshipping Mā Sarawati on last three days. Kālarātri is the one who destroys ignorance and removes darkness so that the devotee merges into the supreme consciousness. This form primarily depicts that life also has a dark side – the violent Mother Nature who nurtures life can also create havoc and remove all dirt. @BritishHindus1 #Navratri #Garba #dandiya #DurgaPuja2026 #DurgaPujaFestival2026

Śubh Navrātri, Śubh Ṣaṣṭhi Day 6 – Kātyāyanī Devi Kātyāyanī, one of the avatars of Mā Śakti is worshipped on this day. As per Śrimad Bhāgvata Pūrāṇa, young eligible ladies in Gokula observed fast during the month of Mārghaśīrṣa and offered prayers to Goddess Kātyāyanī to get Bhagwān Kṛṣṇa as their consort. Mā Kātyāyanī is one of the highly revered forms of Mā Durgā, which signifies cheerfulness and joy. Believed to be the destroyer of all evil, she is seen as a warrior goddess who was able to bring peace to the world. As per Pūrāṇa, long ago there was a Riṣi Kātyāyana. He was a stout devotee of Goddess Śakti. Riṣi Kātyāyana always wished for Devi Śakti to be born as his daughter. During this period, an evil demon named Mahisāṣura was creating great trouble for the Gods. With time he gained more power and the Gods were increasingly worried about him. They prayed to Devi Śakti to save them from the wrath of Mahisāṣura. Devi Śakti decided to take birth to end the reign of Mahisāṣura. She granted the wish of Riṣi Kātyāyana and was born on Earth as his daughter. She grew up to be a strong, beautiful fighter and came to be known as Kātyāyanī. One day, Chandhā and Mundhā, two messengers of Mahisāṣura, saw Kātyāyanī and were mesmerized by her beauty. They went back to their master and told him all about Kātyāyanī. Mahisāṣura became happy and asked Dundubhi, another messenger, to go and talk to Kātyāyanī. Dundubhi met Kātyāyanī and told her all about Mahisāṣura and his greatness. He told Kātyāyanī that she should marry Mahisāṣura as they would make a great couple. Kātyāyanī smiled and told Dundubhi that according to her family tradition, Mahisāṣura must first defeat her in battle. Only then can they both get married. Dundubhi went back to Mahisāṣura and told him about this challenge. Mahisāṣura agreed and soon the preparations began. A fierce battle took place between Kātyāyanī and Mahisāṣura. She managed to defeat his demon soldiers and even killed most of them. When Kātyāyanī and Mahisāṣura came face to face, he transformed himself into a buffalo. This proved to be a real challenge for Kātyāyanī as she struggled to fight him. However, Kātyāyanī tricked Mahisāṣura and climbed onto his back. He was surprised by this move and tried very hard to shake her off but failed. Kātyāyanī then placed her foot on the back of his neck, pierced him with her Trishul (trident), and cut his head off. This is how Mā Kātyāyanī killed the evil and powerful demon Mahisāṣura. In doing so, she saved the Gods from his menace and brought peace back into this world. #Navratri2026 #DurgaPujaFestival2026 #Hindu @BritishHindus1

Śarad Navrātri 2026 Day 5 – Mā Skandmāta Devi Pārvati in her stage of motherhood as ‘Skandmāta’ is worshipped on the fifth day of Navrātri. Lakṣmi represents not only material wealth but also a wealth of virtues that must be cultivated to attain wisdom. Ādi Śaṅkarācārya names six forms of wealth (ṣat sampatti) as calmness of mind (शमः), self-control (दमः), self-withdrawal (उपरमः), forbearance (तितिक्षा), faith (श्रद्धा) and single-pointedness of the mind (समाधानं). Without these virtues, victory over the mind is not possible. This victory comes only when the mind is prepared and the worshipping Mā Lakṣmi symbolises this mental purification. Skandmāta blesses us with Moksha, power, prosperity, and treasures. #Navaratri2026 #DurgaPujaFestival2026 @BritishHindus1

Suspended NHS Dr Rahmeh Aladwan praised the death sentence imposed on a 24-year-old Sri Lankan man for blasphemy in Saudi Arabia. Her social media comment celebrating the death sentence saying, “Well done Saudi Arabia” has gone viral. A doctor in UK applauds blasphemy whereas England and Wales abolished it in 2008 and Scotland later did too. We must ask is this not racial and religious hate? @NHSuk @the_mpts Dr Rahmeh Aladwan, an NHS trainee surgeon, was suspended for 15 months by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in November 2025 while the General Medical Council investigates complaints about her social-media posts. The tribunal said the alleged posts could damage patient confidence and deter people from seeking NHS care. The GMC alleges the posts included antisemitic conspiracy theories and language expressing or encouraging hatred towards Jews, as well as support for violent action and terrorist organisations. #BritishHindus
