I agree with Kelis on everything so whatever she feels she deserves from him she should get. 🤷🏽♀️ Pharrell should give her $8K too just because I know she ain’t get paid for her hook on Got Your Money and I be hearing it in commercials.
Nas was ordered to pay his ex-wife Kelis $51,101 a month in 2009. By 2018 she was getting $8,000, and she went back to court for more.
She says she came home with a 3-month-old baby to a foreclosure notice on the door. When she called him about it, she says his answer was "go f*** yourself."
She filed for divorce in April 2009, seven months pregnant with their son Knight. The divorce was final in May 2010.
The court record:
$44,000 a month in temporary support was ordered in July 2009, a day after Knight was born.
$20,000 was what his lawyer offered as a one-time payment instead. The judge said no.
$51,101 a month was the December 2009 order: $40,454 spousal support and $10,647 child support.
$2.5 million was what he testified he owed the IRS in back taxes.
$8,000 a month in child support was the order once spousal support ended.
February 2018: she filed to raise it, saying his income "would support a child support order in excess of $8,000 per month."
March 2018: they settled on joint custody.
Do the math. $51,101 a month is $613,212 a year. $8,000 a month is $96,000 a year. That is 84% less.
Her claim: she always put the money down on their properties and he paid the mortgage. Then, she says, he stopped paying while she was in New York having the baby.
The case for Kelis: "His needs and expenditures have materially changed since the Judgment has been entered." She also asked for half of school, child care and health costs.
The case for Nas: "Didn't want to bring up money but since that's the fuel behind all of this," he wrote. "I paid for your cooking school cordon blue. The expensive yellow stove we had flown in from Europe. I helped pay for the remodeling of your house."
In the video below, listen for what she says about ever asking him for money: "I have never, ever, ever asked that man for a penny."
If you were her, would you have gone back to court for more than $8,000 a month?
