New data: the gender wage gap narrowed in 2025 — but here's the full picture. Women working full-time, year-round earned 83.9 cents for every dollar men earned in 2025, up from 80.6 cents in 2024. But this isn't the win it looks like on the surface. This happened because women's earnings grew faster than men's during a high-cost economy where every household member has to work as much as possible just to keep up. Women still earn less than men, but their lower earnings grew at a higher rate. The wage gap is still real. The affordability crisis is still real. The federal government just made a choice about whose health matters. HHS has terminated 16 grants worth $38 million—programs supporting maternal and infant health, postpartum care, and infant mortality prevention. Many of these programs served the communities carrying the heaviest burden of this crisis: Black mothers and infants, who die from pregnancy-related causes at rates far above the national average. Their new priority? Low sperm count and erectile dysfunction. Mothers and infants deserve better than being an afterthought.
