Here’s a 1910 post card of Shibe Park, home of the Philadelphia Athletics. The date on the back is 8/14/10. The A’s were away in Cleveland on that day, but 2 months later they’d win their first World Series.
Share a *BIG card* to start the day 🤩💪🏻🏆
*BIG cards are not defined by their monetary worth, but by the personal meaning and/or significance each individual assigns to them* 💯
JAM was something Peter Laviolette would go on about on the 24/7 Flyers/Rangers Road to the Winter Classic show in 2011-12. It even made it on to a giveaway shirt.
The gray image is the transparency of the original card that’s entirely black. You can’t make out a scratch near his hands in this pic, but it’s there and why this was a 9/10.
I bought a card graded 9 by TAG b/c it was way cheaper than raw. Couldn’t figure out why it was a 9. They have images that show every defect. You can slide one button and it’ll go layer by layer. Here’s a scratch that’s barely noticeable to the naked eye on the front of my card.
I recently picked this up for around $40. Raw copies are around $110. I figure the huge discount was because it’s a 9 and because TAG isn’t widely accepted. That’s fine, I’ll use the other $70 for another cool card or two.
Got this over the weekend. Eddie Jones was big around here because he went to Temple. I had a bunch of his rookies but never an auto. Hand numbered /7700.
Went to a small mall show yesterday. Dug this Danny Welbeck Watford on card auto out of a box of random non sports cards. Dealer basically gave it to me for free with the rest of my stack. Footy autos are mostly stickers there was no way this wasn’t coming home with me.
