India has crossed 1,000 km of operational metro rail—a significant milestone in the expansion of urban mobility infrastructure.
And much more remains to be built.
But as these networks expand, another challenge becomes increasingly important: how do we make the entire journey work for the commuter?
The last mile. The interchange. Station access. Passenger information. The connections between different modes.
Getting these connections right can help existing infrastructure work better—and make public transport a more attractive choice.
The Junction and Field Notes, two connected publications from The Infravision Foundation, explore this challenge from different perspectives: the systems and institutions shaping metropolitan mobility, and what commuters experience on the ground.
