Let's dispell some of the myths of pc gaming shall we...
Is pc gaming more complex than console gaming:
Yes it is. If you struggle learning basic PC tasks and you're not interested then PC gaming probably isn't for you, however it's not some daily struggle with drivers and compatibility and anyone saying this is the case is just a bad actor and talking a lot of shit.
Is PC gaming more expensive (hardware) :
Especially right now yes, but all hardware is more expensive, consoles included, and budget entry into PC gaming is virtually non existent unless your buying second hand.
Is PC gaming more expensive (software)
No, PC games are in generally cheaper than console games as they aren't propping up a subsidised hardware eco system and a subscription is generally not necessary for online play.
Are PC's better than consoles? :
This is a very subjective matter and depends what's important to you. A PC can be anything from 1981 to today. For all intents and purposes PC (with some fiddling) is 100% backwards compatible and can range from state of the art to the most basic functionality. What you want to play will dictate how powerful it needs to be.
Do I need the latest and greatest to have a good experience :
No. Again it depends what you want to play. PC gaming covers multiple genres that don't exist on consoles and a back catalogue of over 150000 games. Some people want to play the latest AAA games and others play classic Crpgs, there is no one way to play games on PC.
The tldr is that no platform is more superior to the other. If you love Nintendo games buy a Nintendo, if you Love PlayStation exclusives and like staring at your characters arse whilst your playing buy a PlayStation. If you Love Xbox exclusives then buy an Xbox. If the thought of PC gaming fills you with anxiety and you don't want to learn how to use one buy a console. If performance and fidelity matter to you buy a PC, if you want to play Crpgs, rts, strategy games buy a PC....
But it's not a social competition, play wherever you want.
