There is no problem presently before government at any level in the state of California that can be remediated by giving these governments more wealth to consume and destroy
In CA this November, there are 61 sales tax increases on the local ballots. Only 7 require a 2/3 vote to pass. The rest can pass with a SIMPLE MAJORITY vote -- so almost all will pass. In the past, most such increases required a 2/3 vote to pass. But an insane ruling by the rapidly progressive CA Supreme Court decided that if a labor union puts a tax increase on the ballot by paying for signature gathering with labor union dues, only a 50%+ voting majority is needed to pass.

Another day, another historic orchard pre-harvest inspection. Initial planting ~1910, it was maintained through the late 1970s & then abandoned. We've been working with the family since 2019 to rehabilitate & harvest the property -- the cider makes it to you as Bear's Lair

I was all about bugs as a kid but somehow I'd never seen nor heard of the now physically & *culturally* ubiquitous jumping spiders before around 2011. They neither look nor behave like normal spiders. They're not From Here & represent a reality excursion. I do like them though.
give me some real conspiracy theories. this whole nwo illuminati lizard jews is boring. i need something real

If the leaked Anthropic IPO financials are correct I think it's worth studying the history of early railway companies. Critical technology demanding outsized capital investment but poor profits, most of them fold up into 2nd & 3rd Gen entities which realize alllll the gains

Dang you're telling me that the nerds who love to play high verbal IQ r@pe games are convinced that a superintelligent entity would be infinitely hostile to lesser intelligences and must be stopped?

Maybe we just permanently ban public employees from using AI, then the rest of us can use it to our heart's content whenever we have to deal with the bureaucracy

If DOD hasn't hired some HEMA dorks to reinvent medieval polearm combat for the modern era they're sleeping on the job. Look how stable & unarmored the central waist and leg ball joints are! Easy target.
Our robots aura farming humans now. Emoted on him at the end.

The thing people have to understand about the doomers is that Yud basically invented a contagious form of generalized anxiety disorder, focused on tech, following the untimely death of his brother. Everything in the discourse flows from this
Here’s a concrete AI takeover scenario: some company initiates RSI. Superhuman AI agents hack every computer in the company, then every computer in the world. They hide out til market forces and US - China competition lead to automated military systems and supply chains

Marginal apple year for many of our orchards but this Egremont Russet set a huge crop! One of my favorite varieties to work with, the Egremont dates to the 1870s and has a phenomenal intensely sweet flavor with a rare edge of nuttiness and just a touch of noticeable acidity.
