⚠️ Stormy Day Ahead!
👍 Please Share
Tomorrow is looking like a very windy and wet day!
A low pressure system is forecast to push up from the south to the west of Ireland. The strongest of the winds are expected to remain offshore but still some very strong winds likely to move over Ireland.
💨 Wind - The South West and West are expected to see the worst of the winds where gusts exceeding 100km/h are possible in exposed coastal areas. The ARPEGE model has forecast stronger winds but appears to be the outlier at the moment.
Coastal counties in the south and east aswell as inland counties windy also with gusts possibly exceeding 90km/h, especially in exposed spots and higher ground.
The winds will initially be coming from the south east and will start increasing tomorrow midday to early afternoon. These are slightly different to the usual winter storms which are usually from south to west.
🌊 Rain - Heavy rain is expected to cross the country with amounts fairly high in the south. Over 30mm is forecast in 24 hours in the south west which could bring flooding risks.
🌊 Coastal - Large waves are expected tomorrow theough wenesday which will bring the risk of coastal flooding.
Areas in the south looking most at risk of overtopping waves and coastal flooding with onshore winds, high tides and those large waves.
Preparation - Tomorrow morning take down the trampolines and garden furniture which could blow away and secure bins etc,,,
Overall a very windy day ahead with plenty of branches down and leaves due to the trees still have plenty of leaves on them.
Please take care on the roads tomorrow afternoon and evening.
Thanks,
Nick
