βYeah, it was pretty special for me. Iβve looked up to Pete DeBoer as a coach for a long time. I have a tremendous amount of respect for what heβs done in the game, starting at the OHL level and moving on from there. Heβs had tremendous success, and for me, it was like a free master class in coaching.
βI got to watch him and learn about the systems he likes, why he likes them, and the things he does. Heβs a fantastic person on top of that, so it was great spending some time with him.β

Reminder that Adam Pelech didn't play a full NHL season until his 6th post-draft.
For Johnny Boychuk, it was his 8th.
The disappointing part is that skating and puck skills are NHL-level for George. Sometimes it takes a bit longer for entire game to come around.

The #Isles roster having holes is not a reason to rush prospects. Thatβs the mistake the franchise has made forever. Darche and DeBoer did the right thing with Eiserman and Aitcheson. As for George, itβs on Isaiah and Isaiah only to prove he belongs in the NHL. Still a prospect.

Logan Stanley, reportedly signed 1x$1.5M by NYI, is a big defenceman with reach and a good shot. Really struggles with decision-making and puck-moving, gets about as far as his physical ability can get him. Started shooting a lot last year and it worked out pretty well.

Being a 1st rounder didnβt help, but he was basically lambasted by Jets fans throughout this career, and didnβt show enough with Buffalo for their to be mutual interest in a return #Isles

DeBoer is preparing the fanbase for a slow start as they adjust to his system.
Trotz's 2018-19 #Isles were 18-13-4 at Christmas.
DeBoer: "I will tell you when I come into teams, it doesnβt happen immediately and it takes a while."
Added that in San Jose, it took until about Christmas. If the underlying numbers are good, he'll feel like it's going in the right direction even if results are inconsistent.

Isaiah George didn't have a full year last season due to injuries. Yes, he had the opportunity to make the team as the 7th defenseman, but he was also asked to learn a new system in camp and struggled. More ice time in Hamilton, more time to learn the system.
