I see different blue tick accounts posting this exact thing every few weeks. It's purely for engagement because they know they'll get endless replies explaining why it's a stupid idea.

Watching several movies with 'National Lampoon' in their titles on UK TV as a kid in the 1980s confused me – they rarely had characters in common and never referenced what it was supposed to mean. Side note: Odd that Lorne Michaels never put SNL in the titles of spin-off films.

Something that's messed up is that if Barbie was scaled up to human size she'd be unable to physically give birth – she has no womb and is made of plastic.

The problem with the term SI - super intelligence - is that it doesn't differentiate between computers and really, really smart people like me.

We Brits make fun of the way Americans say Iran and Iraq as 'eye-ran' and 'eye-raq', but we do the same to Ibiza, even though the first syllable should be pronounced how we say Iran and Iraq.

One of several stupid things about Tucker Carlson saying "If Hitler won WW2 and you all spoke German, at least it's a European language" is thinks being forced to speak another language is preferable to just having to tolerate others speaking a different one.

...another stupid thing is that substantially more Brits have English as a first language than Americans - about 91% vs 78%. Would Tucker really prefer all languages in the US apart from German became banned? No - German for thee, not for me.

Lots of people talking past each other on the issue of whether Black people can be English. I get the 'We mean ethnicity, not nationality' argument, but no-one ever suggests I'm not English, despite my Scottish parents and Irish surname.

Every time I see someone complain about an aspect of the Jack Reacher books that got changed for TV, it's something that was either needed to make it work as an eight-part show (e.g. giving him partners to interact with), or is a straight-up improvement on the books.

After years of hearing the phrase 'Debbie Downer', I just discovered she was an actual TV character (on SNL). This beats the time I found out 'oldsmobile' was a real brand, not a just a jokey reference to an old person's car.

So you think those people would have different faces if they'd been brought up in America instead? By what process would living in the US have changed their physiognomy?

...I've heard people suggest that English guys have thinner lips, but none can explain how living in Canada or Australia, for example, would have made their lips thicker. Unless they just mean white guys, so it's ethnicity, not nationality.

Hugo Blick (now a great writer) was cast in 1989's Batman as the younger version of Jack Nicholson's Joker, due to their resemblance. Nowadays he looks more like Conrad Veidt, whose character in 1928's The Man Who Laughs was the original inspiration for The Joker.

Enjoying a procedural called Murder In A Small Town where the whole cast is Canadian and all the supporting cast are from other Canadian shows I've seen, but they keep mentioning Seattle. Halfway through Season 2 someone finally said it's supposed to be set in Washington.

Was pleased today to meet a nanny called Franny. There's a Farmer Palmer near me too. Now want to find more people with rhyming names/ profession. Maybe an attorney called Sawyer.
