Happy Birthday!!!
In the shadowed woods of the American heartland, on a steamy August 15th in 1981, a creature was born under a full moon that burned like the stars on Old Glory. They named him Libertyโthough few ever spoke the name aloud. He was a werewolf of the old blood, gray-furred and iron-jawed, raised by a family that flew the Democratic banner as faithfully as they flew the Stars and Stripes. In those years the party still spoke of working men, of opportunity, of the dream that any soul, even one who howled at the moon, could rise by sweat and grit.
Liberty grew up believing. He voted blue. He defended the party through the long decades, through recessions and wars and the slow fraying of the republic. The American Dream, he thought, was safe in their hands.
Then the last few years came like a winter that never ended.
He watched the left abandon the Dream for something colderโidentity over achievement, grievance over growth, a quiet contempt for the very country that had given him life. He saw the fraud: elections treated like theater, institutions hollowed out, truth bent until it snapped. He heard the open sneers at the flag he had once draped across his own shoulders, the casual hatred for the idea that America was still worth defending. The party of his youth had become something unrecognizableโradical, bitter, and hostile to the nation itself.
Something ancient and feral woke inside him
