The real problem isn’t just Trump or his sycophantic enablers in Congress or right-wing media, or the grifters & scammers on social media. It’s his supporters. They’ve lost the ability to care about truth or recognize it. The ability to discern right from wrong. Competence from buffoonery. Ignorance from wisdom. Corruption from trustworthiness. Morality from evil. Honor from dishonor. The US has a serious long term problem that isn’t just about Trump.

Ah, hell. Barry Melrose did as much for hockey in the U.S. as almost anybody. A great ambassador for the game and a formative presence in so many hockey fans' lives.

The lead for every network news broadcast should be the president falling asleep in the middle of a press conference in the Oval Office for the umpteenth time. But it won’t be and likely won’t be mentioned or shown. Again. What a joke network news is.

When I was in Berlin with the Blackhawks in 2019, I visited The Topography of Terror, among other hard-to-stomach museums. I went in skeptical (and, frankly, ready to be angry as a Jew in Germany), but I was struck by how bluntly Germans confronted their past, how they didn't run from it, didn't sugarcoat any of it. They had shame. They had disgust. They owned it. Meanwhile, in the U.S., we name countless civic and military sites after Confederate traitors. We memorialize and lionize slaveholders. And now we're trying to whitewash it all with presidential-directed propaganda.
