This is huge news from Brazil. The courts have recognized Meta's nefarious efforts to suppress PT content and accelerate Bolsonaro's own, and ruled in Lula's favor with immediate effect: a model of algorithmic accountability to be applied anywhere.
A judge of Brazil’s top electoral court rules that Meta must adopt measures to immediately secure equal treatment of the two presidential candidates ahead of an Oct. 25 runoff. nbcnews.com/world/south-amer…

This video captures settlers beating Heidi. They clubbed her, kicked her. Pulled her up off the ground to beat her more. Robbed her of all her equipment. If she didn’t have a helmet—and if she was Palestinian—she could be dead.

Zionism is racism: historically, ideologically, and in its present form. You can obfuscate it, misrepresent it, or conflate criticism of Zionism with antisemitism. You can dress it up in whatever language you like. But no amount of spin changes this factual reality.

Boston Consulting Group 😂😂😂 Sickening stuff
- Highlights from The Telegraph's report on Arsenal - Arsenal informed its employees of a plan to eliminate 60 jobs to cut costs, during a Wednesday morning call with CEO Richard Garlick. - The cuts will be limited to non-football departments and will not include the men's and women's first teams or the academy, nor will they affect the Arsenal Foundation or the community and security departments. - The club enlisted Boston Consulting Group to review its operations and improve the efficiency of its resource use. - This step comes a week after renewing Mikel Arteta's contract, which is believed to include a new salary of around £20 million per year, making him the highest-paid manager in the Premier League. - Arsenal has recorded financial losses for seven consecutive years, despite the significant improvement in sporting results. - Operating costs rose from £148 million to £201 million during the 2024/25 season. - The club is seeking to ensure the sustainability of its successes and compliance with financial regulations, especially since winning titles does not necessarily bring immediate financial gains, while large bonuses are paid upon achieving trophies. - The medical department saw changes following a review conducted by Spanish physiotherapist Joaquin Acidogo on fitness issues, leading to the departure of doctor Zafar Iqbal and head of sports science and performance Tom Allen, who have been compensated. - Recent months have also seen the departure of commercial director Juliet Slot and legal counsel Svenja Geissmar. Here are a few of the confessions I noted down while watching Naza. “Whoever you decided to kill was a terrorist.” We say 15 NAZA. Not 15 people, or 15 women and children. We say 15 NAZA.” "It’s like a video game, we’d always say, because everything is done remotely.” “We didn’t collect the bodies. The dogs eat them.” - The ‘human shield’ claim about private houses is absurd. They just come home to sleep. That’s where we find them.” When asked if what’s happening in Gaza is genocide.) “Yes. Completely.... It’s intentional killing. We intended to kill those children.” “Gaza became a factory of targets… it was done on a mass scale, efficiently, like in a factory.” “A factory of targets.” “We erased history.” “The policy is to destroy everything as quickly as possible, before we lose international legitimacy.” “When we would attack someone and saw he was injured but alive, we usually dropped another bomb on him.” “I’d hear the final moments of a person’s life.” “I heard a woman screaming that her daughter’s body was burning.” “The goal was quantity not quality.” “There was a boy who entered our territory, he wasn’t doing anything. They bombed him.” Y’all understand the panic over Naza yet? The film is dismantling their narrative piece by piece, using their own words.

Mahmoud Khalil urged pro-Palestinian protesters in New York to keep holding Mayor Zohran Mamdani accountable, but criticized those calling him a “genocide enabler,” warning that such accusations diminish the meaning of genocide. “That takes away so much from the word genocide,” Khalil said, comparing the accusation directed at the New York mayor to the way Israel’s supporters indiscriminately invoke antisemitism. Khalil acknowledged protesters’ frustrations, but urged activists to move away from “purity politics” and internal infighting, and instead focus on grassroots organizing, political education, and extending one another “some grace.” Palestinians being killed cannot wait for endless theorizing about liberation and revolution, he argued. The priority must be stopping U.S. weapons shipments to Israel. @ryangrim | @mahmoudkhalel

Currently in al-Mughayyir, 10+ soldiers here to protect 3 settlers, one of them armed, as they pick olives from Palestinian trees. All roads in/out have been closed 7+ hours, but settlers still allowed in to steal the harvest. Soldiers now raiding houses, too, and fired two shots

imagine being so universally reviled that you have to manipulate textbooks, churn out Hollywood productions to brainwash the masses, buy up the airwaves and social media platforms, and alter algorithms to limit the proliferation of the truth and put up smoke screens where you can't stop information. Then, you weaponize antisemitism to silence decent people, you push to pass laws that punish criticism of you, and you install AI audio surveillance in the tent classrooms of children whose lives you've destroyed in order to prevent your victims from speaking ill of you. You can have more money than God, space lasers and nukes, booby trapped pagers, and endless blackmail material on leaders, but you can't buy humanity. You can't make the world love you, or even tolerate you. You can't make people unsee or unknow. You can't make demons likable. The world sees you at last, understands how wicked you've always been, and hates you immeasurably. That isn't going away, and you will feel the sting of that hatred more and more. I hope it hurts.

I almost didn’t comment on this but now I feel like I have to. Palestinians or their supporters have never been allowed to have “idealistic” positions. That is blatantly false. For more than 70 years, Palestinians have been told and repeatedly forced to compromise, negotiate, moderate their demands and accept less and less, culminating in genocide. And even the most basic demand of stopping the genocide has not been met. There is no such a thing as a reasonable realistic demand for Israel. The genocide is still treated as something endlessly debatable, and people who use the word are punished for it. Judges have been sanctioned. People have been arrested for attempting to deliver aid to Palestinians. One main funder of Palestinian causes is siting in prison in Spain right now. Meanwhile, demands that are considered perfectly legitimate and “realistic” when discussing Ukraine are often treated as completely unacceptable when Palestinians make them. So the idea that leftists have somehow adopted a “hyper-realistic” foreign policy toward Ukraine while holding “idealistic” positions on Palestine is egregiously ignorant and dishonest. Palestinians have been occupied, dispossessed and ethnically cleansed. They have lived under siege and occupation, in refugee camps and tents, while their homes and land are taken from them. Israel wants ALL the land - not a part of a huge country. They want all Palestinians gone. Palestinians are being subjected to mass killing and destruction. They are not allowed to have an army. No one is arming them in the way states arm Ukraine. While Europe and US sanction Russia with new packages all the time and prohibit even Russian news channels, and reorganization in academia and institutions against Russians and Russian language - mostly those already against the Russian government have taken place, the West has more antisemitic laws and tasks forces and more defense against antisemitism instead - which is just cover for Israel by using the Jewish people as their shield. There were no flurry of policies to protect Palestinians. On top of it, Iran is sanctioned not Israel. Iran gets bombed not Israel. And even saying that Palestinians have a right to resist, or saying ‘Hamas’ has the right to resist the ongoing genocide can be enough to cross the boundaries of what is considered acceptable discourse with punishments to follow! We are literally at a point where even discussing whether Zionism is racism, is treated by many institutions as an outrageous proposition. Denunciations all around! And somehow, after all of this, your conclusion is that Palestinians and their supporters are the ones being hyper-idealistic? Zionism is racism is just too crazy?! It’s quite comical to think that you can have a more reasonable realistic demand on Israel and that somehow that will convince Israel. They don’t give a fuck about the size of the demand - the answer to all demands is NO.
Something which makes me suspicious: People who are hyper-realist on some foreign policy issues and hyper-idealist on others. E.g thinking both 1) In the interests of peace, Ukraine should come to some compromise settlement with Russia, whether or not all their sovereign territory is returned (hyper-realist) and 2) The only acceptable outcome in the Middle East is a single secular Palestinian state where jews and Palestinians live peacefully side-by-side (hyper-idealist).

One point the film NAZA makes, which may be obvious to some, is that one of the reasons Israel decided to strike Hamas fighters in their homes with family asleep rather than when they assembled outdoors is spelled out by one intel official: “There are only so many military sites in Gaza — hundreds? But there are lots of private homes. There are 40,000 operatives, so that’s nearly 40,000 homes.” The goal was to maximize the carnage and the destruction of civilians infrastructure and the killing of non-combatants. The AI used for targeting also identified many civilians as Hamas operatives — an official gives an example of a baker who has customers in Hamas; the AI would flag that he had been in contact with Hamas members and kill him and his entire family at home.
