Last night I set an alarm for 3:17 AM just to prove the number had gotten into my head
The alarm never went off.
I woke up at 3:17 anyway

We keep calling them drowned towns.
But water preserves things.
Cold water preserves them for a very long time.

I asked a retired ranger whether hikers ever report bells near the reservoir
He laughed for a long time
Then he said Only the ones who come back.

3 different documents. 3 different years. Same sentence written in the margin
"When the bell tolls, do not look toward the water."
Who writes the same warning decades apart?

Have you ever heard footsteps behind you
only for nobody to be there?

The more I read about drowned towns
the more I wonder if flooding erased
or preserved them

Someone asked if I actually believe any of this
I didn't
Until I found 3 independent references
all mentioning a thirteenth bell

I've watched enough found-footage horror to know one thing

you're already too late

Ever notice how fog kills sound
except for the sounds it wants you to hear
