Bitter Muppets at it again.
Wild statement from @BetterMarkets following today’s CFTC action re: proposed regulatory framework for crypto exchanges… “The US is not the cocaine production capital of the world, and no one is complaining - for good reason. Crypto - after 18 years of effort and innumerable disproved and baseless claims - still lacks any real-world use case. It is used either purely for speculation or for criminal purposes.” Might want to talk to NYSE, Nasdaq, DTCC, & all the other major market participants currently building in the space. Industry is simply wanting rules of the road for crypto. If politicians can’t provide them, then it looks like the CFTC & SEC will have to.

Actually though … Obviously it’s fairly ridiculous that the CFTC is being run by a lone commissioner. And there’s PLENTY to critique there and plenty to critique about crypto more broadly. It’s ripe with frauds & scams & more. BUT the critiques in this letter …. 🙄

Really? If that's your idea of a joke, its not funny. Wish we had more organizations like @BetterMarkets who try to protect investors and are not afraid to speak up.

@BetterMarkets are like the canal operators in England who protested the carrying of passengers by horse drawn carriages (and later trains), arguing that Bernoulli's principle meant the air whipping past their nostrils, at such speeds, would suffocate them... Isaac Asimov gave a speech where he recounted that, arguing that many often resist technology, but do so by citing public welfare concerns, made up or otherwise, in order to preserve their own businesses. In the case of the oxymoronic named "Better" markets, they represent the most hidebound firms in the financial markets and always resist innovation. Full speech is here: asimovonline.com/oldsite/fut…

Insane that any “serious” public financial figure still talks like this It’s either willful ignorance or outright lies Hard to say which one is worse

So, after this massive institutional adoption, tokenization, emergence of DATs, etc, they still haven’t updated their obsolete arguments
