Why would I pay $15/month for your software when I can plan, build, review, improve, host, launch, scale, secure, patch, monitor and debug it myself?

Why would you get food in a Restaurant if you can plan, cook, eat & enjoy food at home

Why would anybody want to pay $15 to avoid that privilege?!

To be fair you can do the same with Fathom (and Visitors of course)

Exactly! If I had the choice between paying $15/m for Fathom or spending more time with my family, I’d start building my own Fathom so hard. After all, my time is worth nothing. And I’d love to spend time debugging that weird bot spike in my analytics that AI can’t figure out.

Jack I understand why *YOU* feel this way, but I ain't got time for that. I just want the software LOL. Hence why I use Fathom <3

JESS I AM TROLLING. I'm not building any software to save $15, I'd have to be an absolute donkey!

I think at some point you'll have an extremely cheap agent that does all of this fully autonomously. So like you'll be spending $5/month for automatic maintenance of your personal software.

Absolutely. I mean I’ve spent however many hundreds of hours, as a senior software engineer, and AI makes zero mistakes. I never spend 24 hours refining its work. At all. Hahahahahahahahahahahah

so you can tweet software is dead for that sweet, sweet ‘original content’ rev share

And not only spend my time doing it (time which could be used to make $$$), but I'll also spend $50-100 on AI for maintenance stuff after spending $800-1000 on building it first place. Not to mention, $12/mo spent on hosting. 🤣

And stepping away from my joking, something I’m aware of is mental bandwidth. Delegating software to AI is not the same as having a human run it. With AI, it’s still your responsibility.

Same reason there are mechanic shops. You are paying $15 for them to do all that shit and you as end user can just enjoy the product.

Why would I take my car to a mechanic when AI can tell me how to fix it myself?
