Western Mass being ruthlessly mocked this week. I grew up there 1986-92 and have fond memories. The truth is that "blue staters" (not called that back then) did a better job stewarding landscapes like this, and the damaging eruption of internal cultural contradictions is more tragic than comic.

In Philly’s Pennypack Park, there’s a critical pedestrian bridge that ties the entire park trail system together. It’s been closed for repairs for over 2 years, with no progress. The city has basically forgotten about it. Locals have responded by pulling some 2x4s off the closed bridge and using them to build a makeshift ford.
Removing public infrastructure without replacement is unacceptable. @ChicagosMayor, where are the stairs at Wabash and Hubbard? @AldReilly?
