Nick Pappas, the NFL field director, said the Maracana field passed all of the mandatory requirements on Friday in testing in conjunction with the NFLPA and an independent specialist. The nature of the issues with soccer led to complaints from the bumpiness that are not as much of an issue with football. Pappas said the focus is on athlete performance and the field should be good. If it rains then there is a tarp to cover the field.

They dropped their third game in ugly fashion to Matt Patricia’s 6-10 Lions. They put up only 209 yards of offense in that loss.
Their two losses were the first time they lost back-back games by doubles digits in over a decade.
