FIFA approached for comment and referred to the findings of its independent committee. 🚨 BREAKING: The independent panel ruling on Manchester City’s 115 charges have found the club guilty on most of the charges. Premier League clubs were updated on the case, but Manchester City are expected to appeal. EPL are confident on a satisfactory conclusion but there is no guarantee the case is fully resolved imminently. Sanctions range from suspended punishments or fines to points deductions and expulsion from the league. And punishments can be applied while an appeal is ongoing. A City spokesman: “The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality. As such Manchester City FC’s position remains consistent with the club’s statement of February 2023. “The club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis that the Premier League board and executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator, free from partisan influence.” Follows @David_Ornstein

All other Premier League clubs were informed on the initial ruling on Thursday. Manchester City consider the case ongoing. Appeal process has its own complications and limitations. 🚨 The Premier League, LaLiga, the Bundesliga and Serie A have written a joint letter calling for an independently chaired Governance Convention within the first 100 days of the next FIFA presidential mandate.   🗣️ “Football’s longstanding foundations have, in recent years, been threatened by a fundamental governance problem, whereby FIFA’s president has actively promoted exploitative ideas rather than safeguarding against them. And while football’s stakeholders ultimately forced the withdrawal of the FIFA Forward Enterprise scheme, the conditions that led to FFE remain.   “The FIFA President has now acknowledged the need for reform, but it is not enough for surface-level, process changes to be explored in the aftermath of FFE – fundamental governance reform is essential to restore clear constitutional boundaries within FIFA, including confidence that individual disciplinary matters remain demonstrably insulated from political interference.”

Manchester United paid Ruben Amorim £8.2 million in compensation. Figure would have been higher (up to £16.5m) had Amorim not taken the Milan job.
