🚨 BACKFIRING🚨 Major EU States just blocked a draft Canada-EU declaration over the undefined “associate member” status. After all the talk of bringing Canada closer to Europe, what exactly is this plan, and why are some of the EU’s biggest states pushing back?

his approach to this scheme is similar to his "projects of national importance" within Canada... announce and only then negotiate with FNs and tell Cdns why it's of national importance

Quebec might float their referendum sooner than we expect.
‼️NEW: Mark Carney has barred the new Quebec Premier, Plamondon, from speaking at Canada-European Union Summit in Montreal this week. ... he also refuses to allow Quebec to organize a reception on the sidelines of the Summit Quebec is FREAKING OUT. Carney is stomping them.

the most significant difference is that to get true membership there has to be a referendum this "associate" membership is being done to Canada by authoritarian fiat

Remember the names of everyone congratulating Lula. If they are capable of not denouncing a stolen election, they are capable of doing the same in their countries.
Congratulations to President @LulaOficial on your re-election - a true victory for democracy and progressive values. I look forward continuing to work together as we create opportunities for people in the UK and Brazil.

CTV is doing the exact same thing In their recent interview, Frank McKenna is introduced only as “Former Canadian ambassador to the United States.” No mention that he has been Chair of Brookfield Corporation since 2010 — the same firm where Mark Carney was Chair of Brookfield Asset Management until he ran for Liberal leader No mention of his long-standing ties to Carney, or that he has repeatedly praised the Prime Minister’s direction Viewers are left with the impression they’re hearing from a neutral former diplomat, not the current chairman of one of the world’s largest asset managers with deep connections to the PM. No mention that Carney still stands to gain advantageously from two specific Brookfield funds Selective disclosure isn’t just a CBC problem @omarsachedina
Frank McKenna has been a director of Brookfield since 2006 and has been the Chair of the Board of Directors for Brookfield Corporation (formerly Brookfield Asset Management) since August 2010. He endorsed Carney for Prime Minister, and he might have been instrumental in his interest to run as far back as 2012... but CBC only calls him "former Canadian ambassador to the United States" CBC's ongoing selective disclosure exposes its biases @brodiefenlon

Carney want Canadian taxpayers to pony up tens of billions for his Defence, Security, and Resilience Bank, the projected cost is 118 billion with Canada providing the biggest chunk spread over three years. The Defence, Security, and Resilience Bank (DSRB) is a new, Canada-led multinational financial institution designed to provide low-cost, long-term financing for allied military, security, and resilience projects such as tampons in allies mens washrooms Because Canada is the largest economy among the nine founding countries (following rejections from the UK Germany, France and Italy) its share of the upfront paid-in capital is expected to be significant.

Gays & lesbians do not have a “sexual preference,” we have a “sexual requirement.” Gay men are only attracted to men. Lesbians are only attracted to women. These days you will hear that we’re attracted to masculinity or femininity or have genital preferences. That is horseshit.
