Hugely momentous day for me yesterday here @UniversityCape, graduating for my PhD in Emergency Medicine. Thank you to all those who supported me getting here (esp my wife, @DefProfEM @wallis_lee @codingbrown). Such an incredible ceremony & fantastic to be part of it.

A brilliant definition (I think) of EM
To assess. The different procedures and treatments are incidental - anyone can stick a central line in or give Pack A - it's the ability to assess, risk assess and decision make that is key to what we do.

Yesterday saw @swasFT taking part in a triage workshop at Winterbourne Gunner in collaboration with @NHSEngland, there had been yet another terrible accident at the train station….

Great @GWAAC training with @Harryvonturbo. I think this was the start of our run of shifts together the other month!
To ensure our crew are able to walk into any situation feeling prepared, they go to great lengths to recreate scenes & scenarios for training. These images are taken from a simulation where the crew were acting out a difficult, night time RTC with a critically injured patient.

And that’s my year done @QAHospitalNews. Absolute privilege to have worked there in ED over the last 12 months. Never would have thought I’d work in a pandemic on home soil! Sad to leave, but excited for the next chapter & adventure, joining @BRIeducation @GWAAC in August.
