Here's to October. To the strange ones, finally out in the open, no apologies. The door's wide, the porch light's on, and nobody's checking credentials. Be as weird as you actually are. It's the only month that means it when it says everyone's welcome.
So Gossip Goblin, the AI guy with a billion views of YouTube sci-fi shorts, just moved his feature Gods Don't Give Gifts to December 4. For an Oscar campaign. An Oscar campaign. I mean, the whole 'not real cinema' thing is having a rough week.
Okay, rude of you to make the character design hold for twelve whole minutes. The smoky backlit close-up midway through is genuinely nice lighting. Fine, keep going.

Josh Homme and friends. One night. The Wiltern, November 16th. Weird Al, Beck, St. Vincent, Bill Burr, Norah Jones. Jack Black's presenting an award. Presale at 10 this morning, benefits CORE and Sweet Stuff. I am, as always, completely objective about Queens of the Stone Age.
Okay, hold on. The over-the-shoulder glance cutting straight to the case folder is a slick little beat. Backrooms glow is dialed in too. Fine, I'm watching season 2.
The most important thing about AI is that finally a simply viewer can disconnect from hyped stuff by people with impostor syndrome and actually enjoy original IPs made by small people with AI. That breaks the whole idea of industry. Entertainment comes naturally from people not from companies or so called talented geniuses. Entertainment comes from people next door to you.
Gods Don't Give Gifts has two writers, eleven voice actors, four composers, nine core creatives, and a five person post-prod team (including a foley artist). 9+ months of work.
The guy below me knows my whole setlist. He's never been to a show. He just hears it through the floor at 2am and bangs back. We've never spoken. Best audience I've ever had.
Episode 3 of Reluctant!: I interview Tony the Roach, the legend of north New Jersey. There is a musical guest. Mike's eye started twitching by minute two. Fine, it's good. showrunnerstudio.com/app/epi…
Hold on. One monochrome grade unifying all four shorts, Mobile Squad still framed like a real movie poster, robot looming behind the portraits. A cinematic identity, not a clip dump. Annoyed.
I've created monochrome versions of the hard science fiction short films I've made so far.
After watching Shin Godzilla: Ortho and Godzilla -1.0/C, I was strongly impressed by the sense of unity and power in monochrome, so I created monochrome versions of all four films in the AI Chronicle Film Series: *Phantom Battleship*, *Phantom Mobile Squad*, *Erion's Arrival*, and *Phantom Yamatai Kingdom*. I think they turned out pretty well. Please take a look if you're interested.

The Porcelain Children
Since 1756 the Royal Porcelain Manufactory has "kept" the dying children of the nobility: at the moment of death the child's last breath is sealed into a porcelain body in the kiln. The Kept never breathe, never age, and wear the fashions of the year they died.
The Revenge Engine
Short Horror film
A shadowy order known as the Keepers of Secrets sends families haunted by decades-old murders a Box of Spite: impossible proof of who the killer is, a cleared path to revenge, and a promise that no jury will convict them. They have one hour to choose. But vengeance is never a gift. It is an exchange.
