#Royals have had 9 winning Septembers in 37 years. 3 led to playoffs the next year. So if by annual cycle you mean, a winning Sept. led to nothing 6 times in 37 years, yes. (Last time that happened was 2018) A good finish may mean nothing! But history doesn't deem it irrelevant.

The current state of Seth Lugo is why a sweep was unlikely to happen, and why a miracle run remains nearly impossible. Need to go 5-1 each week in September to have a shot. Maybe possible if Ragans, Bubic, Kolek, Bergert or even Avila were in Lugo/Lynch’s spots. But alas. #Royals
