That's what a good education does.
So good to be back at my old school this week to talk about how we’re making our education system better and fairer.
That includes fixing the funding of public schools and our reforms to help more kids go to TAFE and university.

Not all superheroes wear capes and not all lifesavers are at the beach.
Kids’ lives are different because of @YOTSAustralia.

Brilliant to cut the ribbon for some school upgrades at Isabella Plains Early Childhood School with David Smith MP today.
The $315,000 upgrades went to building a new multi-purpose court, new play areas, and a new bike track.
Great to see some of the students tearing up the tracks today. 🚲
We promised it and we delivered it.

I’ve said our kids need a digital detox.
It’s not just me saying this.
This week I caught up with neuroscientist Dr Jared Cooney Horvath.
His new book The Digital Delusion shows the more time kids spend online the more their results decline.
The use of screens in school will be on the agenda when Education Ministers next meet.

A few weeks ago I said I think our kids need a digital detox.
Since then I’ve been inundated with support from teachers and parents saying this is the way to go.
Victoria have already announced they will limit screen time in schools.
This week NSW have said they will do the same thing.
Great to read about some more schools across the country who will do this in the @australian today.
This will be on the agenda when Education Ministers next meet.

My first grade teacher, Mrs Fry.
Next year she'll celebrate 50 years as a teacher - including 49 years at Cabramatta Public where I went to school.
