Just like this plant needs good soil and full sun to really grow, our industry needs clear, complete rules. Half-measures don't build strong businesses or safe workplaces. Richard DeLisi served 32 years of a 90-year sentence for a nonviolent cannabis offense, one of the longest ever handed down in this country. He went in in 1989.
He came home on December 8, 2020.LPP worked alongside pro bono attorneys Chiara Juster, Elizabeth Buchanan, and Michael Minardi to supplement his clemency petition and keep the pressure on Florida officials until they let him go.
Richard did not stop there. He founded DeLisioso with his son Rick, a Florida cannabis brand that puts proceeds back into the fight for people still inside. From cannabis prisoner to cannabis entrepreneur, on his own terms.
Thirty-two years cannot be given back. What we can do is make sure nobody else loses them.

Seven years ago this month, a group of advocates decided the cannabis industry could not celebrate legalization while people were still sitting in prison for the same plant.That was September 2019.
Since then:
Nearly 30,000 hours in pro bono legal services
360+ years of sentences and 8 life sentences ended
21 clemency grants
Provided reentry grants to more than 500 people
Every one of those numbers is a person who came home. Every one of them is also a reminder of the thousands who have not.
Seven years in. Nowhere near done.
