Many thanks to all who came out last night. Our town hall meeting to address Attala County electricity outages and service issues with Entergy was held at Carmack Community Club. The meeting was packed and we not only heard from @EntergyMS and Northern District Public Service Commissioner @ChrisBrown4PSC, our citizens got the opportunity to address Entergy leadership directly in a public forum and voice our issues and concerns. A good first step to improving service in our area.

Yesterday, the House Select Committee on Property Tax met for the second time, hearing from the Mississippi Department of Revenue and County Tax Collectors. House members are working to lessen the burden of real property taxes for Mississippians. How can we further reduce the burden on the people who own a home, raise a family, operate a small business, or simply want to retire with dignity in the state they love? The House is pursuing policies that put Mississippi taxpayers and property owners first.

I was honored to join @msmsbluewaves to kick off their 2026-2027 academic year. The ideals of community, creativity, scholarship, and service guide MSMS students toward their reputation of excellence. As these students embark on a new school year to develop their talent and education, I reminded them that leadership requires compassion and understanding. The choices they make and the values they uphold will influence their future and the future of Mississippi. Through their innovation and commitment, Mississippi will continue to thrive as a state rich in resources, opportunities, and potential.

Had a great time meeting with the talented aspiring attorneys in the @LynnFitchAG's internship program. Their questions, passion for the law, and eagerness to learn the legislative process are exciting to see in the next generation of legal minds!

As we Sine Die this Special Session, we conclude our work at the Old Capitol having passed meaningful Youth Court reform that puts Mississippi’s children first by strengthening accountability, improving transparency, and ensuring families receive timely and consistent justice. This legislation invests in children, not bureaucracy, while protecting vulnerable youth and giving our courts the tools they need to better serve Mississippi families. Judiciary B Chairman Kevin Horan and Vice Chairman Jansen Owen worked tirelessly for several months to improve our Youth Court system by streamlining processes and putting the focus where it should be, with children. Appropriations Chairman John Read and Vice Chairman Angela Cockerham have been integral leaders in the state’s conservative budget. Because of that fiscally responsible budget, we can prioritize a transformative statewide program. I am appreciative of the bipartisan support from my House colleagues to focus on Mississippi’s children.

Today, our nation celebrates 250 years of freedom! This Independence Day is a historic milestone and an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation.

I appreciate the opportunity to join Bruce Bartley’s crowd at Grip N Grin yesterday. Great food and fellowship in Madison County where so many good things are happening. The House will continue to engage in tough conversations. We do our best work when we are a little uncomfortable!

Great day in Kosciusko as we cut the ribbon on Rocky’s House, a traveling exhibit of the @MSChildsMuseum. The early literacy initiative focuses on building foundational language skills through interactive play and will be in Kosciusko for the month of July.

Enjoyed being in my hometown of Kosciusko for our America 250 celebration. Fantastic day of activities and an evening honoring our veterans. The Kosciusko Attala Partnership-Chamber of Commerce and many volunteers did an outstanding job celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday.

Pine Grove Church once again knocks it out of the park with their production of For God & Country. The stories of ordinary people who witnessed extraordinary events in American history.

It’s great to be back at the Neshoba County Fair today, where politics are discussed, friendships are renewed, babies are introduced, and occasionally minds are changed. Mississippi’s Giant House Party is a reminder that despite our differences, we are all Mississippians first!

Across the country, and certainly in Mississippi, hospitals are facing significant challenges. I’ve been proud of the House’s work with @MHA to seek solutions to protect access to care in our state. I enjoyed joining them at their Leadership Conference to continue the conversations aimed at improving Mississippi’s healthcare outcomes.

United in Song, America250 Mississippi’s cornerstone event is a great opportunity for us to come together on June 20th to celebrate the country we love. It will be a powerful showcase of patriotism and unity as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday. All of Mississippi is invited.

We are saddened to share yet another loss in the Mississippi House of Representatives with the passing of State Representative Bo Brown. Bo served in the House for seven years and represented his constituents of Hinds County well. A valuable member on House Corrections, Judiciary B, Medicaid, Tourism, and Transportation Committees, Bo conducted himself with professionalism, respect, and kindness. Please keep his wife, Imelda, and children, Michelle, Kidada, and Dawn, in your prayers. We will miss another friend in the House. May he rest in peace.
