At times, the endless “synodal process” feels like bishops and cardinals fiddling while Rome burns.
Across the West, Mass attendance collapses, churches close, vocations disappear, Catholic marriages and baptisms decline, and millions no longer know even the rudiments of the Faith.
And what is the institutional response?
More meetings. More listening sessions. More committees. More reports. More consultations about consultation. Vast quantities of time, money and episcopal energy poured into discussing “process”, “participation” and “structures”.
Imagine if even a fraction of those resources had been devoted to evangelisation, catechesis, reverent liturgy, strengthening Catholic families and forming priests.
The Church already has a mission. Christ gave it to her: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.”
We do not need to spend another decade discerning whether we should be a missionary Church.
We need to get on with the mission.
