In the past four weeks alone, Basildon Reform UK leader @ReformUKSam has: 1️⃣Faced more than 50 code of conduct complaints alleging bullying and harassment, around half reportedly from council officers not even members of the public or councillors. 2️⃣Targeted the former chief executive on X after news of his new job became public. 3️⃣Claimed a councillor had been arrested and cautioned over death threats, despite police confirming that no such arrest took place. 4️⃣Claimed a Councillor was being evicted for owing £30,000 in unpaid rent which was a lie and led to the individual receiving vile racist abuse. 5️⃣Targeted a Councillor online that led to an onslaught of abusive messages that led that councillor to attempting to take her own life. 6️⃣Suggested another councillor had stolen council money and was about to be arrested, after earlier claims of an arrest that police also said had not happened. 7️⃣Used social media posts to link a 62-year-old former teaching assistant Councillor to a child abuse allegation involving a different person, who was 33 and based elsewhere. 8️⃣Raised serious questions about whether he approaches planning decisions with an open mind and has been told repeatedly that he is acting unlawfully at the committee. 9️⃣Refused to do a DBS check for months. 🔟Created a toxic culture of fear around his Group, the officers and the council. These are grave matters. So why has @reformparty_uk still not suspended Sam Journet while they are investigated? During our talks, we discussed the challenges facing Ukraine and all of Europe, coordination with partners, concrete steps to strengthen Ukraine’s position, and ending the war with a just peace, along with robust security guarantees. A principled statement of support from the Prime Minister and an important decision: today, in our presence, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a Loan Agreement. This loan will enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and will be repaid using revenues from frozen Russian assets. The funds will be directed toward weapons production in Ukraine. This is true justice – the one who started the war must be the one to pay. I thank the people and government of the United Kingdom for their tremendous support from the very beginning of this war. I’ve just announced the creation of the Education Essentials Grant in Basildon. Similar to the old EMA, we are offering a grant of £15 a week to 16-19 year olds from households with a parent on UC to help with travel, food and books. Available from Jan 1st.
