The OpenAI team has handled things so well lately that whenever there’s a massive live issue, I kind of just assume a reset is coming right after.
That’s obviously a risky amount of trust and basically an act of faith (LMAO), but so far they haven’t let me down.
The way they’ve been treating the community has honestly been really good.

A lot of people have been telling me they’re seeing noticeable improvements in both quality and latency with GPT-6 Astra and GPT-5.6 Sol.
I’m still looking into it, but it really does seem like something changed. Both models suddenly feel much better “out of nowhere.”
I’ve also started seeing reports and examples of much more advanced interactive interfaces being generated directly inside ChatGPT, like in the video below.
I still don’t know if these changes are connected, but something is clearly moving behind the scenes.

There’s basically unanimous praise for Opus 5.5, but I think people *might* be overlooking what its existence implies about Anthropic’s internal models.
Anthropic almost certainly has substantially stronger internal models helping generate training environments. Think of the stronger internal model as the teacher and Opus 5.5 as the cheaper deployable student.
Now Opus 5.5 itself scores 55.8% on CoBench 2.1, while Anthropic estimates roughly 85% would be required to fully substitute for its research staff.
Opus 5.5 is now only - 30 percentage points away from Anthropic’s benchmark threshold for fully substituting its research staff.
Anthropic is sandbagging btw. Just like OpenAI both have models significantly more powerful than Opus 5.5 or Astra

Anthropic’s 7 co-founders reportedly own ~14% of the company, roughly 2% each. They’re seeking 50.1% of the voting power.
This kind of control has precedent, but those founders generally came public owning much more of their companies. Page and Brin owned ~32% of Google at IPO, Zuckerberg ~28% of Facebook, and Spiegel and Murphy ~36% of Snap. They all still have majority voting control. (For context, a recent dataset of 79 dual-class VC-backed IPOs shows only 15% gave the CEO majority voting power, with a median voting power of 18%.)
Then Anthropic adds another layer: Long-Term Benefit Trust, an "independent group" created to protect the company’s public-benefit mission, owns zero equity but can still elect a majority of the board.
The Trust has roots in the Effective Altruism/AI safety world. Needless to say, controversial.
So public investors may own ~86% of the economics while the founders control the shareholder vote and a "mission-driven trust" controls the board.
Hard to believe this structure doesn’t cost Anthropic some multiple.
