🚨Roy Keane on Manchester City being found guilty of 114 Premier League financial charges: 🗣️ Roy Keane: “If these findings are ultimately upheld, then Manchester City have got a very serious question to answer, because this isn’t just about numbers on a balance sheet. “For years, Manchester United watched City spend enormous amounts of money, bring in world-class players and build a squad capable of competing for every trophy. “And United lost titles during that period. “So if the independent commission’s findings eventually lead to sanctions that affect those seasons, you cannot simply look at it as City being punished today. “You have to look backwards. “Were other clubs denied opportunities? Were other players denied medals? Were other teams denied the chance to lift trophies? “That is the uncomfortable question. “And if titles are eventually stripped as part of the final sanctions, then Manchester United could potentially find themselves being handed Premier League titles years after the celebrations should have happened. “Imagine that. “You could have a Manchester United player receiving a Premier League medal for a season they finished second in. “That would be extraordinary. “And people will say, ‘But the football was played.’ “Exactly. “That is why this situation is so serious. “If financial rules were breached in a way that materially affected the competitive balance, then you cannot pretend the consequences only belong to the present day. “City built an incredible football team. Nobody can deny what they achieved on the pitch. “But football has rules for a reason. “If you break them and the findings survive the appeal process, then you accept whatever consequences the rules allow. “And if that eventually means points deductions, stripped titles or even relegation, then so be it. “Manchester United won’t be asking for favours. “They’ll be asking what the rules say should happen. “Because trophies are not just pieces of silver. “They are history. “And if the history of those seasons has been affected, then you may have to rewrite the history books.”
