Ogun deep seaport is uncalled for when Akwa Ibom has a natural deep seaport at Ibaka needing no dredging that has been politicized for decades. Ogun will cost the government more money.
TINUBU: OGUN DEEP SEAPORT TO DECONGEST LAGOS PORT CORRIDOR
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says the proposed Gateway Deep Seaport in Ogun Waterside, with a four-kilometre berth and an 18-metre draft, will help decongest the Lagos port corridor, ease pressure on the Apapa and Tin Can Island ports, and reduce costs and delays for importers, exporters and consumers.
He says the port will also accommodate larger, deeper-draft vessels that support modern global commerce.
