Just finished No Way To Run a Country by @JohnnyMercerUK Superb, eye-opening, candid & at times frustrating but the account of a man with character, conviction & integrity who genuinely tried to make a difference. One of best political books I’ve read. Highly recommended.

Finishing a busy week with @theJeremyVine recounting this wild story. A guy I evacuated from the battlefield in 2010 and was certain was dead, reappeared at a reception in Downing Street. He epitomises the veteran spirit. Ultimately politics was worth it for people like Mark.

Ann Widdecombe was the President of the Plymouth Moor View Conservative Association. She was so proud of us finally winning in the north of Plymouth - she had previously stood in the Devonport seat. She had character, heart and courage. She will be deeply missed.
