The world cannot ignore what is happening in Sudan. One year on from the mass atrocities in El Fasher, the UK is sanctioning those linked to these and other atrocities, and strengthening support for survivors and communities at risk of famine.

Some chatter on social media would have you believe that crime is out of control. The facts tell a different story. As @frasernelson has shown in his Substack today: Violence is at its lowest level since the crime survey began in 1981. Robbery is at a record low. Crime, excluding fraud, is 78% down on its peak in 1995. And the stats show this Government is delivering on its promises too: Knife crime is down 11%. Knife murders are at their lowest level in 35 years. Thefts including phone snatching have fallen by 20% in the last year alone. But I know there is more that we must do, and we will: We’ve put more than 3,800 extra neighbourhood officers into roles, with named, contactable officers for every neighbourhood. We’re introducing the most significant reforms to policing in a generation. We are tackling rising rates of violence against women and girls through our landmark strategy. And we are tackling crimes like fraud, more prevalent in our increasingly online world, with £250 million directed to this challenge in our Fraud Strategy published this year.

Omelyan Kovch, a Ukrainian Greek Catholic priest, helped Jews during the Holocaust. At Majdanek he continued supporting prisoners of all nationalities despite the risks until he was killed in 1944. Thank you Father Batruch for joining me to pay tribute to this extraordinary man.

51% of Jewish teachers - many of them NEU members - experienced antisemitism in school in the past year. Fixing this starts with defining the problem. IHRA spotlights the insidious and often subtle nature of antisemitism. It doesn't stifle criticism of the government of Israel.

I want Britain’s energy wealth to spark a new wave of clean power. Our decision to approve Jackdaw alongside the new Energy Wealth Fund means we invest in green transition and benefit from our existing natural resources.

Last week I visited Majdanek, where at least 60,000 Jews & 18,000 other victims were murdered. Each one a life cut short. A future stolen. With antisemitism once again on the march in the world, we must heed the inscription on the mausoleum: “Let our fate be a warning to you.”

Thank you @USAmbUK As Jewish communities around the world face rising hatred, intimidation and violence, strengthening UK-US cooperation is vital. We must stand together to challenge antisemitism in all its forms & ensure Jewish communities can live safely, freely & without fear.
Jewish communities across the world are facing a dangerous rise in hatred, intimidation, and violence. I spoke with the UK Special Envoy for Post-Holocaust Issues Jon Pearce about how the U.S. and UK can deepen the work we do together to combat antisemitism and strengthen interfaith dialogue.

Before the Holocaust, Jews were about a third of Lublin’s population. They were neighbours, friends, family - an integral part of the city’s life. Today I met city officials and visited @grodzkagate, where education, research & remembrance keep the story of Jewish Lublin alive.

Jewish life in Poland is a story of resilience and renewal. At JCC Warsaw, I met with community representatives to talk about Jewish life today. The UK is committed to working with Jewish communities to tackle antisemitism and help ensure Jewish life continues to thrive.

Good. I hope the Greens up and down the country will do the right thing.
🚨 NEW: Labour says all council power-sharing agreements with the Green Party will end unless their local groups condemn the “Zionism is racism” motion

I don't accept there is a choice between being tough on the criminals that blight our communities and offering support to help turn lives around. Firm, but fair. That is our approach. It's why we are recruiting more police officers. It's why we are building more prison places. But it's also why we are investing in youth centres, our probation service and an array of rehabilitative programmes. The best way to keep communities safe is by cutting reoffending. That is at the heart of our law and order agenda. Enjoyed @bbcquestiontime last night in Durham.

I will always remember where I was when I heard what was happening on 7 October 2023, travelling to Labour Party Conference in Liverpool. I had been to the peace loving kibbutz of Kfar Aza earlier that year. My mind often goes back to the nursery, with the buggies outside, and

I will also never understand the hatred in the hearts of those who celebrated that day on Britain’s streets, or of anyone choosing this anniversary to protest rather than remember.

There are plenty of other days for protest & politics. Today should be about remembering every person murdered, every survivor whose life was changed forever, and every victim of sexual violence.

Nearly three years ago the day after October 7th I went to the Israeli Embassy in London to pay my respects to those murdered in the Hamas attacks. I was met by a mob celebrating the death of Jews. I will never forget what I saw that day. We must never normalise hatred
