Trump’s lavish welcome of Xi this week marked a high point for stability in a US-China relationship that’s seen a lot of lows. Now, the Chinese leader is pushing to lock in more favorable terms on Taiwan and trade while he still he can. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

I have never been so positive about the outlook for the direction of Canada's economy than I am now. Perhaps the bar got so low after a decade of Ottawa Trudeau LPC trying to shut the industry down. Either way, great things happening for Canada and Canadians.
🇨🇦 Canada's LNG bet is about to double Shell-led LNG Canada shareholders are nearing sign-off on Phase 2 at the Kitimat, BC terminal, doubling output from 14 to 28 million tons a year. A final investment decision could land as early as October, with Shell targeting year end at the latest. Phase 1 hit its full 14 mtpa run rate through 2025 after shipping its first cargo in June. Ottawa and BC have already fast-tracked Phase 2 through a Cooperative Prosperity Agreement and a "nation-building" designation that caps approval timelines at 2 years. The expansion is expected to pull in $33 billion in private capital and lock in long-term offtake with Asian and European buyers. For me the real edge here is geography. Every cargo out of Kitimat reaches Asia without touching the Strait of Hormuz, the Red Sea, or the Panama Canal. While Gulf states and US Gulf Coast exporters fight over who controls the choke points, Canada is building supply that never has to cross one. themerchantsnews.substack.co…
