Ending no-fault auto would be a disaster on many levels…Before it was brought in, dubious claimants were milking the system dry…Ask yourself why lawyers want it ended #bcpoli Rates would spike
Even conservative voters are calling on Doerkson to cancel his ICBC changes and agree that an Alberta style model will cost more for every day British Columbians.
I agree, this is a big misstep by the BCCP. I have family in Alberta that are paying outrageous auto insurance premiums. Doerkson should cancel his plan to privatize auto insurance and instead look for cost savings at ICBC.
Significant error by the B.C. Conservative campaign. Politicians of all stripes have maintained ICBC as sole provider of basic auto insurance because they know people know private insurance costs more. #bcpoli
Major fiasco BC Conservatives halfway point of campaign. Secret letter tells lawyers, industry insiders plans for auto insurance before telling public. Assuming letter won't be leaked. Saying "everything is on table." Doerkson has some explaining to do.
If the @Conservative_BC plan to change ICBC's auto insurance, they should tell voters before they tell the the group that stands to make millions from the change. My latest in @BIVnews:

A good day to ponder what an amazing deal B.C. residents have enjoyed thanks to public auto insurance. Avg nominal premiums are no higher than 9 years ago when J.Horgan was elected, vs 45% avg increase in Canada and 119% in next-door Alberta. Data from StatsCan. #bcpoli

Lorne Doerkson’s secret letter to the for-profit insurance lobby: “everything is on the table” aka “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine, just name your price.”
Let's be clear - this would double car insurance rates for British Columbians.
It's truly shocking that the interim leader of the Conservatives would commit to doing this behind closed doors.

A secret letter outlining how Lorne Doerkson and the bc conservatives will allow private-for-profit insurance and costly legal fees into BC’s car insurance system. This will undo years of work that has made BC’s insurance rates some of the lowest in Canada.

MoveUP has learned that Interim Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson has pledged privately to the trial lawyers and the private insurance industry to overhaul BC’s insurance industry with a plan that would double rates for drivers. #bclab#bcpoli#bcelxnmoveuptogether.ca/the-latest…
Additional context regarding BC tax rates: across all major revenue sources, the province is the second lowest tax jurisdiction in Canada overall. Roughly 17% below the national average.
Watching the bc conservatives come out in force to defend the wealthiest 1% against a small marginal tax increase is really something.
How long until Chip Wilson puts up his homemade lawn sign?
NEW - @Dave_Eby proposes to raise income taxes on top two brackets by 2 percentage points, to generate $1b in extra revenue for BC.
• $190,405-$265,545 will go from 16.8% to 18.8%
• $265,545-$1m will go from 20.5% to 22.5%
• New $1m+ tax at 24.5%
Interim B.C. Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson says while he doesn’t share the views expressed by the party’s candidate for Chilliwack North on LGBT issues or abortion, she will be allowed to run under the party’s banner.
Any list of Toronto mayors that puts John Tory at the bottom is ridiculous. History will look kindly on his steady leadership and economic focus.

Councillor @SeanOrr has food security on the agenda this week at City Hall.
The motion proposes common sense measures:
- Identify City-owned land in Food Priority Zones
- Protect culturally significant, affordable retail
- Pilot a public option for affordable groceries
