We don't want our athletes to bet on their games. Candidates running for federal elected office should be treated exactly the same and should not be allowed to trade on their own election. Candidates from different political parties have traded on their own races, and Congress must bring an end to it by passing this common-sense legislation.

The North Carolina Seafood Festival showed us how vital our coastal heritage is to eastern North Carolina. For 40 years, the festival has brought people from across the region to celebrate a valued tradition. The crowd applauded loudly when Thomas and Monica Smith of Miss Gina's Fresh Shrimp were announced and presented with the 2026 Outstanding Commercial Fishing Family award. I'm glad to join in congratulating Thomas and Monica. Participants were clearly grateful for all they had done to stand up for those who depend on the water to earn a living.

Can you explain why you support a bill that will cause eastern North Carolinians to lose their Medicaid coverage?
.@DonDavisNC voted AGAINST critical support for rural hospitals, the same hospitals families across Eastern North Carolina rely on when they need care close to home. I’ll always show up for our rural communities, fight to protect access to care, and make sure no community or family gets left behind. lauriebuckhoutforcongress.co…

Letting the party in power draw maps with political data is like letting one team set the rules before the game. Wrong under Democrats; wrong under Republicans. Our NC maps show another way. See the comparisons. What would you change? ECU discussion: Oct. 21.

Friday in the First Dr. Kaye Bennett Dotson, a Jamesville resident for more than 20 years, worked as a school librarian, after which she began her teaching career as a Library Science professor at East Carolina University. There, she taught graduate students and conducted research. As a teacher, researcher, and writer, Kaye has contributed to preparing the future generation of librarians to help others. Having retired from East Carolina University, Kaye moved back to her native town where she helped set up a community lending library in The Friendly Spot, which also includes a community café, a food pantry, and a community garden. We pay tribute to the achievements of Dr. Kaye Bennett Dotson, who has brought her devotion to education back to her hometown and created a wonderful place for learning and community. #FridaySpotlight
