114. Thomas’ Treatise on Divine Government is a classic exploration of providence, the ordering of angels and demons, and the relation between body and soul in humanity. Unexpectedly it ends with an article on the nature of semen as surplus food!

A British Jew is waiting in line to be knighted by the Queen. He is to kneel in front of her and recite a sentence in Latin when she taps him on the shoulders with her sword. However, when his turn comes, he panics in the excitement of the moment and forgets the Latin. Then, thinking fast, he recites the only other sentence he knows in a foreign language, which he remembers from the Passover Seder: "Ma nishtana ha layla ha zeh mi kol ha laylot." Puzzled, Her Majesty turns to her advisor and whispers, "Why is this knight different from all other knights?"

May I recommend this new website called ‘google’? It provides access to vast swathes of human knowledge. If you were to type in “St Paul’s Cathedral, London” or “Frauenkirche, Dresden” or “National Cathedral, Washington” you might have a delightful surprise.

Few things stir the soul like witnessing elderly people at a Care Home heartily singing during an Allhallowtide communion: 'The golden evening brightens in the west; soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest: sweet is the calm of Paradise the blest. Alleluia!'

Of course, there is always the possibility that you might be from a working class family who had middle class 'posh' aspirations...
If you are British and have two middle names you’re either: 1) Posh 2) Catholic 3) Chinese

In Sharpe's Waterloo, they used clips from Sharpe's Eagle for the march of the Imperial Guard. As a child I thought this was a clever artistic decision to recall the first major battle in the Sharpe TV series. Now I realise they just ran out of money.
Do love the Waterloo finale for Sharpe. It’s like Sean Bean has picked up a local rugby team, raided a very small military antiques store, and just had a fun day in a field.

'We're saving God'. How glad I am to hear that! I was terrified that if the Republicans didn't stay in power, the substance of physical and spiritual reality would dissolve like snow, leaving a void of metaphysical nothingness come the morning of November 4th.
"We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window…” - Eric Trump, son of President Donald Trump. @atrupar.

The 3 biggest class culprits for snobbishness in the UK are the nouveau riche, who (falsely) believe that imitating the upper class requires snobbishness; the upper working class, who are dreadfully snobbish towards those lower down the pecking order; & the nouveau middle class.

You can tell the difference between nouveau riche who act like their upper class and the upper class themselves, in that there is generally a wonderful lack of snobbishness to their 'social inferiors' in the latter.

Experimenting with a Catechesis series that begins with the practical elements, rather than concluding with them. I think we live in such a de-Christianised society that knowing how to *do* the faith is crucial to surviving as an individual Christian.
Some photos from Mass and Catechesis last Saturday! In our first session we covered how and why we say the Daily Office and the importance of prayer in the Christian life. Join us at 10am next Saturday as we discuss “How to behave at the Mass”!

For those who are posting about how the Liberals were destroyed at the 1924 election... that's kinda the point of this being a meme...

In retrospect, the meme potential is very reliant on people being able to distinguish British self-deprecating irony from American earnestness... which is not something that many people have quite grasped...
