I spent time pitching in the Chicago White Sox organization, and looking back, the thing that sticks with me isn't a single pitch or outing, it's how much of my own development I never actually saw. Coaches would tell me things. I'd feel things. Once a year I would have to strip down to my underwear and glue markers to my body to do a motion-capture session. Then I’d wait a week for a data analyst to build a PDF that didn’t show me anything I could remember feeling. I never once saw my ground force, my sequencing, and the resulting pitch data in the same place, in real time that allowed me to understand how the data correlated to what I felt. That gap is what @kinebase exists to close. The ground doesn’t lie. The pitch or swing starts as force pushed into the dirt. Force goes into the ground which is redirected to the legs, hips, trunk, and eventually the hand/ball. Biomechanics without ground force data is incomplete. However, athletes shouldn’t have to treat it as a separate “force plate day.” KineBase predicts ground reaction forces on any mound, anywhere, on every throw you make.
