Most people open a pool, look at the chart, then check who bought. I think that’s backwards. Before asking “who is buying?”, I want to know: Is the flow actually real? Here’s how I use Top Traders + Recent Trades on GeckoTerminal as a flow check (not a copy-trade signal) Open the pool and ignore the main page Go straight to Traders. I’m looking for a few things: • Are buys and sells mixed, or is everything coming in one-sided bursts? • Are trade sizes varied, or does the same size keep showing up? • Is the volume spread across wallets, or is a handful of wallets doing most of it? • Do the timestamps look natural, or does the activity look coordinated? Then check Top Traders. Not to find someone to copy. To understand who is actually driving the market. Look at: • How many wallets account for the early volume • Whether the same wallets are active across related pools • How large their positions are relative to the pool’s liquidity • Whether they’re established wallets or fresh addresses with no visible history Then put that next to the basic numbers: Liquidity. Volume. Tx count. Holder count. Pool age. Security flags. This is where things get interesting. A healthy early market can look surprisingly boring. The flow is mixed. The volume isn’t coming from 2–3 wallets. Liquidity makes sense relative to the size of the trades. And the activity doesn’t completely disappear when you move from 5m → 1h → 6h. A weak market can look amazing on the chart. Big candle. Huge % move. Lots of volume. Then you check the tape and realise three wallets did most of it, liquidity is thin, and the same trade size keeps appearing. That’s the kind of market I don’t want to discover after buying. My workflow is simple: 1. Search by contract, not ticker. 2. Find the main pool by liquidity + volume. 3. Compare liquidity, volume and tx count. 4. Read Recent Trades. 5. Check Top Traders. 6. Then look at the chart. At that point, I can decide whether the token belongs on my watchlist, in Multicharts, or nowhere. Top Traders doesn’t tell you who’s smart. It tells you how concentrated the activity is. And that distinction matters. Because discovering a market is very different from chasing a tape that was never going to let you out.
