I’m honestly not surprised Octavia has no friends. There’s literally NO ONE around her age.
So far, she’s the only teenage Goetia we’ve seen—not even someone a year or two older or younger. Everyone else is an adult. And given how much their society cares about status, I doubt she was encouraged to bond with lower-class demons either. I can totally imagine her getting close to some of the imps working for her family whenever her parents weren’t around, simply because she needed someone to talk to, but that’s a whole other conversation.
If there had been other kids from noble families, though, I feel like Stolas and Stella would’ve let her spend time with them, if not actively encouraged it. She would’ve needed to build connections within their social circle eventually, and growing up completely isolated wouldn’t make much sense. I can see them protecting her from an arranged marriage, but keeping her away from potential childhood companions? Not really.
But now I’m wondering if that’s actually important. What if Octavia is the first child born into the Goetia family since Stolas’ generation? We haven’t seen Andrealphus, Vassago, or any of the others with sons or daughters, which makes me wonder if her birth was actually a rare event.
That could explain why her role as an heir—and possibly her upcoming celebration—is such a huge deal.
Unless there are younger members we simply haven’t been introduced to yet, Octavia might genuinely be the beginning of a new generation possibly
