Coming in at #11 on my 2027 NBA Draft Preseason Big Board is Michigan State Freshman Jasiah Jervis. In this thread I take a look at his game and explain my ranking.

Jervis in my opinion is someone who’s pretty all around, and due to that I would say he doesn’t have a lot of glaring flaws in his game however he does have a few. I think the most glaring is he’s not a very good creator right now in one on one situations, and is super PNR dependent. He also really struggles at getting to the rim on his own. Out of the 23 ISO possessions Jervis had in EYBL he only got to the rim 4 times. He also really struggled to finish and get to the rim as an iso player in HS, I also don’t think his off the dribble jumper is great in one on one situations either. One of the biggest reasons why he shot so poorly off the dribble in eybl was due to the amount of iso off the dribble threes he took which he was pretty bad at, however in HS he adjusted and at MSU he’ll be more similar to that version of his off the dribble shooting. I don’t think he’s ever going to need to be a lead iso creator, and I think he can be a very valuable player without it however I do think it potentially limits his ceiling a bit as someone who can’t create in iso situations. I also think Jervis needs to be more active as a cutter he showed flashes of it but was pretty poor at it overall. I think being a consistent cutter can really open Jervis’s game as it allows him to be an extremely deadly off ball threat, with his movement shooting ability and it’ll make him near impossible to keep off the floor. One more thing I think he needs to polish is to be a little bit better as a connective passer. Right now I think his vision is a bit limited. He’s a not a bad passer due to his great decision making and playmaking, however I think Jervis consistently misses reads as a connector, and if he slides into a more off ball role he needs to be a consistent connective passer in my opinion.

Coming in at #10 on my 2027 Preseason NBA Draft Big Board is Alabama Freshman Qayden Samuels. In this thread I take a look at his game and explain my ranking.

While I’m a big fan of Samuels’s scoring ability I do think he is a bit limited and there’s stuff he needs to improve on in his game. I think as a scorer he’s a terrible shot creator at the rim and from three, and he’s someone that really only got by as a dribbler from his mid range which he won’t be allowed to do without a passing leap. Samuels is extremely stiff as a creator as well and shot just 35% at the rim as an isolation and PNR scorer. He also really struggles to get to the rim on his own with his limited burst and handle, and that’s something that can hold back his ceiling a bit. I also think he struggles to create off the dribble from three and is extremely uncomfortable when doing it. Samuels is also a very low feel player and passer in my opinion, he also has a poor handle which makes him someone you don’t want to have dribbling the ball consistently in the league. He’s also a very poor passing prospect right now who consistently misses reads and I don’t see that improving at Alabama. I think for him to reach his full ceiling he needs to overhaul his passing which will be really hard to do with his poor feel. Samuels’s poor feel and handle leads to a lot of turnovers as well when he’s dribbling. On the defensive end he’s someone who has similar awareness issues on that end, he consistently misses easy rotations and is a poor one on one defender who gets blown by a lot.

Coming in at #9 on my Preseason 2027 NBA Draft Big Board is Missouri Freshman Jason Crowe Jr. In this thread I take a look at his game and explain my ranking.

I also think there’s other key flaw’s in his game that he needs to improve. One of the first which is something he can’t necessarily improve is his feel for the game and awareness. think he’s a player that has really bad tunnel vision on offense and on defense, as he’s someone that is consistently missing open reads to take a bad shot or make a costly turnover. He’s also someone who consistently misses rotations on defense and is overall a pretty poor defender. Crowe’s awareness and feel is going to really limit his full potential in my opinion, and if he can’t adapt into being a secondary off ball scorer who can playmake in the league he’s going to have a hard time sticking. I also think he’s not great in one on one situations and is a pretty bad space creator, his frame is also really apparent against bigger players at the rim. He was very inefficient in isolation situations without the mid range, as he shot just 30% at the rim and 18% from 3. I think Crowe is someone that can’t be the lead scoring option due to his lack of consistent playmaking feel, and faults in isolation.
