This is far bigger than betraying Ukraine. It signals that no American ally relying on US technology is safe.
Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone." He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population." He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory." "They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this." He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."

That’s just bad business by Musk. Who the hell other than the US would ever trust any defense system they provide? What a fucking joke.

Countries like Australia have to speak out against Trump and the US. As their allies we can’t sit silently whilst he turns against allies and moves America lore and more towards Russia

Actually, it means to accept US assistance, you have to actually cooperate and maybe just be a little fucking appreciative. Zelenskyy opening gave the US the middle finger. There's consequences for that.

Thanks to the duplicitous Trump, Raytheon, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin and others will see their Order List decline. No one wants to deal with the US.

They aren't an ally. Elon gave them a gift that they have ungratefully abused. No dominant tech should be given to anyone, ally or not, without the acknowledgement it can be taken back if US interests are not being served. Only idiots would think otherwise and ignore the wishes and advice of their benefactor to whom they owe so much. We are not obligated to participate in perpetuity in the loss of tens of thousands of people monthly for a cause that cannot be won. It's sick to cheer it on.

Who is Europe betraying when it sends Russia about $50 million a day for 90–100 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas it imports from Russia?

On the other hand we should be thankful. We here in Europa now finally see that the USA is not a trustworthy ally. It does not care about anything other then their own interests. All these words like "freedom", "democratic values" and "checks and balances" were just empty words.

The US has no allies under Trump. He is a compulsive liar and utterly corrupt so he will do anything to benefit himself financially. It's like dealing with the Mafia, but with no Code of Honour.

It’s a proxy war that only 21% of Ukrainians support. And for that matter, what do you know of the history of Ukraine, in particular, the Donbas region?
New poll on Ukrainian attitudes on the war finds a strong majority – 57% – support an immediate negotiated peace with Russia and territorial concessions Only 21% support fighting until the Donbass is returned to Ukrainian control Most overwhelmingly favor a national referendum on peace, rather than allowing the president or parliament to decide The survey was taken by Rating Group on October 3-5 It follows a Gallup poll this June showing 66% of Ukrainians favoring an immediate negotiated cessation of hostilities

Ukraine never had Starshield and was using commercial Starlink outside the rules. Same leaders who demand endless aid now spin false claims when the commercial system enforces its own terms.🤷🏽

There's a difference between relying and freeloading. Ukraine does the latter, has done it all along, and does it while constantly bitching that American taxpayers don't send him enough cheddar. If he wants to negotiate a contract whereby Ukraine pays the US for the capabilities we provide, fine. Otherwise beggars can't be choosers.

If i own some technology, you should expect that I should be able to do what I want with it unless you have a contract that gives you control. Starshied belongs to the US military. They are free to do whatever they want to it. If there is a contract or agreement that gives Ukraine, or Poland, or whomever, the ability to control certain aspects of its function and the US breaks the contract, heads must roll. Honoring contracts is imperative.

the only real allies are NATO allies… if the US was bound to defend Ukraine, Ukraine would effectively be part of NATO. But yes, let’s prop Ukraine up as long as the powerful can launder money out of there.
